This permineralized wood is from Zenkau, Germany. 

This sparkly wood is from a tree that grew during the Jurassic period, 200-250 million years ago! The tree fell at some point and over the course of many many many years, was slowly surrounded by silica and eventually the crystallization process began. This permineralization is the stage before petrification, by where all the wood is completely replaced by other minerals. There are areas on this specimen that aren’t sparkly, showing what is called mummified wood and technically those areas could still burn!
